Motorland Aragon

The Motorland Aragon circuit is a new international-standard circuit built in Spain. Motorland Aragon is the result of Aragon’s powerful automotive industry that emerged after General Motors opened its Zaragoza plant in 1982.

The track layout was designed by Hermann Tilke, considered the world's leading circuit designer. In recent years he has created the circuits of Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, Sepang, Shanghai, Istanbul, Valencia, Singapore and India. He has also tweaked the circuits of Catalunya, Nürburgring, Silverstone, Fuji and Hockenheim.

The main building was created by Sir Norman Foster. Formula One driver Pedro de la Rosa is a technical and sporting consultant on the circuit.

The facility has been designed to incorporate three main zones - a technology park, a sports area and a leisure area (Motor City). The technology park will feature research institutes based around the motor industry, the sports area will include the racing circuit, a karting track and various gravel circuits, whilst the leisure section will feature a hotel and shopping facilities.

The design of the Leisure area is inspired by the sleek aerodynamic aesthetic of the racing car. The smooth forms of the building are sculpted by solar and wind patterns with a lightweight roof that floats over the entire complex.

Motorland Aragon is located in Alcañiz, in the Mediterranean environment of lower Aragón 90km from Zaragoza and 280km from Barcelona.
