Cliffs of Masmut. Peñarroya de Tastavins
In the steep streets of the town of Peñarroya de Tastavins (Catalan: Pena-roja) , with its attractive houses bearing coats-of-arms, one can see a permanent exhibition entitled "Traditional life and trades: lo Masmut", located in an impressive building that is still comprised of its original quarters.
Two kilometres from this town is the chapel of Virgen de la Fuente, one of the finest examples of Aragonese Gothic architecture, with it's Mudejar coffering, and near is the Centro de Interpretación del Porcino, where visitors can learn about all the things that you can do with and produce from the pig, which is such an important animal in the area of Peñarroya, Monroyo and Fuentespalda, the area that is the origin of most of the Teruel Ham. A further mention should be given to Monroyo a historic town where El Cid and Monarchs of Aragón, Alfonso I and Jaime el Conquistador once stayed.
