Goya's Museum of Engraving in Fuendetodos
Fuendetodos is a small town in Aragon, located about 44 kilometers south-east of Zaragoza. It has a population of approximately 170, yet has nearly 25,000 visitors each year. The famous Aragonese artist Francisco de Goya was born there in 1746.
The artist's birth house and a museum dedicated to his work are located in the village. This building, which dates back to early 17th century, was identified by painter Ignacio Zuloaga in 1913. It was declared a National Historic Monument in 1982. The house still has the same traditional rustic appearance that it had three centuries ago. Visiting times: tuesday to sunday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4p.m. to 7 p.m.
But Goya is not the only heritage of Fuendetodos. In the surrounding area, there are “neveras”, traditional buildings which were used to store ice due to the torrid summers, as well as stone quarries, exploited industrially in the nearby Puebla de Alborton.
